Happy today!  I hope you guys are enjoying this weekly post or at least getting something out of it.  If nothing else, I have been keeping myself accountable to do this every week and that feels good.

This Wednesday pretty much everything I ate was eaten out, which is not usual for me.  I flew back to LAX after visiting my family on Tuesday late afternoon and drove straight to my boyfriend’s house in Orange County.  We did visit his local health food store Tuesday night so that I was able to start my day with some fresh greens!

This Wednesday,  started with lemon water, always, always.  Then I sipped on a Suja glow juice.  I love a good pressed green juice, but I am hesitant to buy brands and flavors featuring apple as I have found some to be too sweet for me.  But this one was perfect.  The apple just lightly cut the bitterness of the greens but was not overpoweringly sweet.  Yay!

A little bit later, my main squeeze and I walked down to a cute little cafe.  I ordered an almond milk cappuccino that was superb and their Mediterranean salad.  The salad was a hearty portion of fresh goodness.  Argula and spinach topped with cucumber, red onion, greek olives, tomato, feta, and hearty chunks of avocado tossed in a lovely vinaigrette.

I am sometimes hesitant to order salads out for fear that they won’t be fresh enough or full of enough goodness, but this one had me at hello.  Also, often I would have requested no feta as I don’t eat much dairy, but sometimes it just sounds right to me.  So, I trust that and enjoy it when it does.

On my drive back to my house in LA, I sipped on a lemon ginger sparkling probiotic drink from Kevita.  I haven’t had one of these in a while and I was definitely happy with my choice.  I do enjoy drinking a good probiotic beverage at least a couple days of the week.  The Kombucha 2000 is my regular choice at home, but the Kevita is a great substitute for me.

Once I got home, I needed to wait around for the gas company to come as there had been a problem while I was away and they shut my gas off.  So, I wasn’t able to go out to get any groceries.  I munched on some raw onion bread that I had made and kept in the refrigerator from last week and then made plans to meet a friend for dinner at Sage not far from me after the gas company finally showed.

Sage is an amazing Vegan restaraunt in Echo Park, full of insanely flavorful dishes, and I can walk to it!  My friend, Arika and I ordered the mozzeralla sticks to split.  Which are actually, hearts of palm fried in rice flour.  This means they are gluten free and they are insanely tasty!

Arika and I were both interested in the dill cheez tostada and the butternut squash tacos.  So, we each ordered one and then swapped half.  I had ordered mine with a side of kale instead of the rice and beans it was to be served with and I also ordered their Alkalizer green juice.  I was craving my greens!

I usually just enjoy one green juice a day, but today I really wanted another.  Maybe, I was in withdrawls from my long weekend without any.

It is quite a feet to leave Sage without indulging on any of their desserts, but I was completely satisfied.  For your information, though, they have a ton for fresh baked gluten free and vegan goodies.  They make about a dozen or more raw vegan ice creams.  They have coffee floats and kombucha floats.  They have raw pies and truffles and even a guten free waffle sundae.  I tell you, it is insane there.

So that is this week’s edition of WIAW on the go!
