My biggest message is for you to fully love and accept yourself, no matter who that is and no matter what anyone else thinks or what their idea of you is. My new friend Cari Kamm, has written a novel focusing on just that, Fake Perfect Me.
The novel is the most amazing blend of two of my favorite things. On one hand it is a “girly” novel, based on a woman living in NYC, decked out in designer duds, with a life that many would drool over. On the other hand, it is a story of fully accepting one’s self and discovering your truth. When Isabella Reynolds’, the main character, life takes a few unwanted turns, she is forced to confront herself and fully accept herself.
Cari brilliantly calls her character “Fake Perfect” and describes it as “the desire of wanting to be so accepted that you are more perfect at being fake than true to yourself.”
Fake Perfect Me is a book, a documentary, and a mission to spread the message of self worth.
“Saying something aloud, anything coming from my heart was more than acknowledging it; it was owning it. I needed to hear the words come out of my mouth – to stain the air with my feelings.”
– Fake Perfect Me, a novel by Cari Kamm
What’s Fake Perfect About You? Lights. Camera. Truth. from Cari Kamm on Vimeo.
Still confused on what “Fake Perfect” means? Cari has given a few examples.
Are you a strong confident person? Truth: Insecure and feel the need to impress others.
Do you love wearing designer labels? Truth: Can’t afford any of it, but feel invisible without it.
Are you independent and don’t need anyone? Truth: Would like to find love and terrified of being alone.
Do you always love the way you look? Truth: I will never be good enough.
Do you mean what you say? Truth: I always tell people what they want to hear so they like me.
Cari, invites everyone to share your own FAKE PERFECT story here
This is seriously such a great read with such a great message!

Hi Tricia, I’m so psyched about this book and would love to win it. I strive to be authentic and want it to be the way I live my life, but at times I find it challenging. I guess the goal is to be present to each moment and speak my truth.
Thanks for all you give to us!

I feel like the “superstar” in my family. I even feel this way around my friends. I feel like there is an image for me to uphold. So, everyday I make sure to try and fit into that mold. I try to be what they “see” me as..I try to be perfect. Behind closed doors I was always breaking down. I moved across the country last year for a change of scenery..to find myself.. to find out just who I am. Who I truly am. I’m still discovering and practicing everything that I’ve learned and ultimately remembered about myself. Following Tricia on Twitter has been amazing.. because everyday, all day I am reminded to BE MYSELF. I you I wish I had a miniature you to put on my shoulder. Here’s why! I believe this book will bring me clarity and insight on how I’ve been living.. faking perfect me.
That was so deep!! It just poured right out.. Thank you.
Just tweeted! Now, FB!! This is fun
FB post and “like”ness complete!

i love to read and especially if it’s something i can grow and learn from. This book seems something that would be right up my alley. thanks for sharing.
My name is legally Amy and I want to win the book because my mother not only doesn’t like me but she doesn’t love me either and has never spoken to my 14 year old and she is ALIVE and he is MISSING and not in my custody and I ASSURE you I’ve judged people when I’ve heard of this happening to them and fully regret it because it is NOT what it seems to be. She told me she was not going to put her life on hold for me and that has been my only mission with my son. If there has been a knife on my throat or my head has been banged on the floor until I lost consciousness these are very insignificant things compared to the lack of love from my mother. I’ve been without teachers and given all of my fibers to a child who needs not just stability and love but ENRICHMENT. That’s why. I need stuff.
I am fake. I call it “blowing sunshine out my . I need a change. Turned 30, 2 weeks ago and it’s time I start to live my life the way I want…..and not the way I do. Help would be a blessing and I love to read!
Line line line step step step. I am commenting that I have done so.
Piece.
