Last night I got home from an evening yoga class feeling completely blissed, but also starving!  I didn’t want to eat anything too heavy and I didn’t want to eat anything that would keep me awake.  It was 10pm already and I have been having a challenge putting myself to bed at a decent time.

The easiest thing for me to do was to make a shake, but most of my usual shake ingredients are superfoods that energize, which is not what I wanted.  I knew I wanted cinnamon, besides sounding comforting it also has a ton of health benefits, it too is a superfood.

  • Lowers LDL cholesterol; helps heart disease
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Treats tough yeast infections
  • Improves digestion/colon health
  • Anti-clotting
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Reduces inflammation; treats severe arthritis when used regularly
  • Aids digestion
  • Treats common cold
  • Cures headaches
  • Scent helps memory and brain function (bring on the cinnamon potpourri!)
  • Source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.

So this is what I whipped together:

1 cup of filtered water
4 TBLS of hemp seeds   (or can use a nutmilk instead of the water and seeds)
1 banana
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of raw mesquite powder
1 tsp of coconut oil
1 scoop of Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder (can omit or add hemp protein)
dash of himalyian sea salt

You can stop here and blend with some ice…..or

Add a big handful of greens (I chose kale, surprise, surprise)

Sweeten to taste (I didn’t find mine to need any sweetener, but you may)

Blend it all up and enjoy!  So comforting and delicious!

I was so excited to drink it that I forgot to take a picture of my final product!  I am happy to report that is totally satisfied me and let me slip into a peaceful sleep relatively early (for me).  So, it worked!  TADA!
