Miranda is an author, speaker, podcast host, and creative coach. Her popular self-development podcast Live Free Creative reaches thousands of women with practical tips and inspiration for a creative, adventurous, and intentional lifestyle. Miranda’s recently released book, More Than Enough:How One Family Cultivated A More Abundant Life Through A Year of Practical Minimalism .

In the book she shares what happened when her family of five stopped shopping for 12 months. She loves tacos and cactus and lives with her husband, three kids, dog, and four chickens in Richmond, Virginia

In this episode we talk about:

  • getting started as a blogger while on a trip with her husband to keep all of their friends in family connected with what they were doing
  • why she kept blogging once they returned home
  • growing up a maker
  • transitioning over the years from full time nursing and being a mom and blogging 3-5 times a week
  • feeling out of alignment so taking a year off from blogging and work to put herself back in the driver’s seat of her life
  • how we always get to choose
  • just because you want something it doesn’t mean you feel called to do it everyday
  • choosing to try to make blogging be her full time job by monetizing it
  • creating win, win, win sponsored projects and the challenges of doing paid posts
  • creating filters for how she decides who to work with
  • the mindset and attitude she uses to put herself out there and pitch herself to her dream brands
  • taking advantage of blogging conferences and how she sets herself up to make the most of the experience
  • choosing to take a year to not buy anything that was not consumable in their More Than Enough experiment
  • choosing to move from a large house and property to a home half the size
  • the society mentality that you have to have a big house and if you have a small house it is because you can’t afford anything else
  • how progress doesn’t always means bigger and more
  • we define success and what works for us doesn’t have to work for others
  • how we get to choose, and we get to choose over and over again
  • how we often don’t recognize our habits until we are forced to look at them like in her minimalism challenge
  • deciding to write a book about her year long experiment and self publish
  • how she is more excited to try and fail
  • making decisions from a place of trust and faith and creativity and not lack
  • Which keychain she chose from my line and why!
