I love me some Yerba Mate’.  I believe, that I was first introduced to it in 2005, when I was on tour doing sound with a hippy jam band The String Cheese Incident.  The entire team, band and crew, were Mate’ fiends all choosing to drink it the traditional way from a gourd with a bombilla straw.  Being a health-minded tea drinking individual I jumped right on board and never looked back.

Yerba Mate is native to South America, where they seriously live off of it.   It delivers both energy and nutrition and without any sort of crashing like you can get from drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages. Yerba Mate’ naturally contains 24 vitamins & minerals, 15 amino acids and is abundant in antioxidants.

I seriously feel alive in ways I can not explain from drinking the stuff.  It’s a smooth jolt of energy.  I  feel complete aliveness that brings me focus and just an overall euphoria.  I totally get what they mean in this chart below, and I seriously didn’t even realize that they use the word euphoria, too, when I typed it.  I was just speaking the truth!

In Argentina it is called “liquid vegetable” and the “Drink of the Gods”.

Guayaki is my brand of choice and not just because it is organic, fair trade, and just damn tasty.   No other company compares with their overall commitment to all-encompassing quality, sustainability, and service.   Not only do they take great strides to get us the most flavorful, natural, and robust Mate’, they are committed to preserving the forests that their Mate’ grows in and the communities that farm it.  They give back.  They preserve.

Also, Guayaki’s packaging is as eco conscious as it gets. Their packaging is now 100% biodegradable and compostable.  They are completely solar powered and  have even created and calculated how you are actually reducing your carbon footprint by buying Guayaki mate.

Guayaki makes it easy for anyone and everyone to fall in love with them, offering flavored bottled and canned Mate’, as well as varieties of loose and bagged Mate’ and even more.   I currently choose to get mine loose and use it in my french press.  I keep bags on hand in my purse and when I am traveling so that it is with me in case of emergency and often I grab a chilled can or bottle (Pure Empowermint is my fave) when I am out and about.

Yes, you are correct, I am mildly obsessed, but with good reason to be and I want you to obsessed, too.  It makes you feel good and is good for you.  Win. Win.  Winning… (couldn’t resist).
