Jennifer Pastiloff is soon to be a best selling author, like this week, when her first book, ON BEING HUMAN, is released!
Seriously, her memoir is so good and is being praised by Pink, Cheryl Strayed, Glennon Doyle and ME!
In the book and this conversation Jen opens up about her past, her destructive habits, and how she finally started to get herself unstuck and begin to call out her inner asshole and go from being a waitress for 13 years to leading transformational workshops around the world. Her motto to live by is Don’t Be An Asshole.
Go right now and order her book On Being Human.
You can learn more about Jen at jenniferpastiloff.com and @jenpastiloff. She also runs a website called themanifestation.net and @nobullshitmotherhood.
We start off the conversation talking about my HOLD SPACE tattoo and dive right into Jen’s story and all the bullshit she has had to call herself out on in order to get to where we are now, sitting on her couch with her new book in my hands!
We talk about being woo-ish, what we think about manifesting, and how that has shifted for her, and about how no one is coming to save us. We have to save ourselves.
I truly love Jen so much, and was so moved by her book, and all that she shares in this conversation, the book and all that she does. Jen is as real as it gets!
In these episodes we talk about:
- Holding space
- the effect of her father’s death had on her life
- The stories we create in our heads and project out into the world
- The grounding it takes to hold ourselves up when being truly judged by others and being put down
- My phrase The Only Judge of Me, is Me
- Sia, and how she covered her face in album promotion to be able to promote her work but not be as recognizable.
- Her former eating disorders and exercise addiction and finding yoga
- How going on anti-depressants changed her life and finally allowed her to see clearly
- spreading the no shame on anti-depressants
- coming to terms with her hearing loss that she was avoiding
- Being woo-ish
- What to manifest means to us, and how that has changed for Jen
- Making big requests
- What raises her joy levels.
- Which keychain she chose from my line and why!
