Katie Seller is a multi-company CEO who even though she was raised by entrepreneur parents, never thought that was the route she’d go. After getting frustrated with her success being in the hands of bosses and upper management of big-box retail stores, she decided to create her own future, her own success. She started Metal Marvels in 2012 as a way to work for herself never knowing what would come of it.

She had always been a lover of being different, being bold, and standing out from the crowd. When she realized people gravitated towards her use of profanity and the lack of profanity items on the market, she saw an opportunity to create it. The business took off from there.

She’s worked for herself for 4 years now and has since created Profanity Pillows (now a collection under Metal Marvels), Fucking Good Coffee, and Enneagram Maven. While she never thought entrepreneurship was what she was supposed to do, it’s not clear she was born for this. She is obsessed with empowering women to be themselves, stand in their power, and reject societal ideals. She employs 3 women currently who get to work from home, and she plans to employ more. She also recently launched private coaching calls so she can further empower women to build or grow their own businesses, to work for themselves and gain financial freedom.

In this episode we talk about:

  • what inspired her to start her own business
  • why she chose jewelry to start

  • the aol messenger chat as a teenager that shattered her and had her questioning her worth for years
  • having a come to Katie moment that brought her back into her power and led her to confronting her parents that they had to accept her who she was or never see her again
  • the challenges and freedom that came with changing her businesses to a very sassy line that uses “fuck” a lot and has a lot of straightforward talk
  • growing her business from hiring people to hand stamp to full production
