In this episode we talk about:

  • how we met on tour ten years ago working for Colbie Caillat and the steps she took/takes to take care of herself often as a sole female or one of a few
  • getting into both singing and dancing from a young age and while singing always had her heart getting more attention for dance
  • taking bus rides from Toronto to NYC over and over again for auditions for music videos and dance opportunities
  • how when auditioning dancers and singers they often aren’t just looking for talent but also picking people by looks, and can only have a certain amount of people per skin tone.
  • getting her first big break auditioning with hundreds of dancers for Debbie Allen and getting chosen for Mariah Carey Butterfly tour
  • working relentlessly to record demos and make singing her her thing while also constantly working to book more dancing gigs as they were paying her bills and keeping herself active in the music industry
  • how being on tour as a dancer and singing for fun on the tourbus after a gig get the attention of the artist she was on tour with and made her a singer
  • how we need to work hard BUT we also don’t know where and when a door will open to us, to speak up about what you want and are pursuing
  • seeing that not all things are for you
  • what inspired her to start working as a performance coach and how that has evolved
  • how mental health and self worth issues will stop us and weigh us down no matter how much talent or opportunities we have
