Josie Maran

Josie Maran, Luxury with a Conscience. (How can you not love that?) Josie is a top model who after becoming a mother was inspired me to take a look at her life and ask, “What can I do for the world? How can I contribute?” How she is contributing is by creating her own makeup line “made with superior ingredients and housed in chic, biodegradable packaging, embrace eco-friendly initiatives wherever possible”. I like!

If you have been following me in the past couple of months, then you have seen me talk about No More Dirty Looks. One of the things that I knew I had to try out ASAP after reading this book was Argan Oil. It sounded like some sort of miracle worker, and I had never even heard of it before.

Being someone with acne prone skin that tends more towards the oily side, putting oil on my face sounded a bit odd, but when I walked into a Sephora to return something and walked straight into a Josie Maran Argan Oil display, I figured why not try it out. From there I was hooked.

I now use it as my daily moisterizer, day and night. I also use it in my hair, putting it on my damp ends and that is it. I rarely ever use any hair products any more.

Since, then I have tried out several of Josie’s other products, all Argan oil based. Most recently, Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation, Argan Color Stick, and Argan Eyeshadow Quad. I love them all!

The Matchmaker foundation is seriously amazing. When you pump it out of the bottle it is white, and when applied to my skin it easily blends to match my skin tone! Crazy! It goes on so smoothly, and easily and adjusts itself. This is huge for me, as I am not a makeup pro and choose to not spend much time perfecting it. I swear I don’t even need to look into a mirror to use this and don’t have to think about it being blended in.

The color stick, I have petal pink, I have been putting on my cheekbones for a little blush touch and on my lips. Like the Matchmaker foundation, it glides on, smooth, soft, worryless. I have used other items similiar to this in the past and have found them hard to blend in, not this Argan based one.

Like all of Josie Maran’s products the Argan Eyeshadow Quad glides on with ease. The truth is over the last ten years I have barely worn eye shadow at all. So many of them are stiff and messy. It just didn’t seem worth it to me. Even with a non-regular eyeshadowist, like me, this Argan based quad makes it easy for me to apply and I feel confident wearing it. The colors shine, instead of looking chalky, as I have experienced in the past.

I am sold on Josie Maran’s entire product line, it is now a fast favorite of mine and you know what I like to do with my favorites! Give them to you!

I’m loving this giveaway. I don’t wear eyeshadow all the time, but recently I’ve noticed that when I do my eyes water uncontrollably. I’m not sure whether it’s because my makeup is old or because I’ve developed an allergy, or both. Regardless, I’m ready to try something new, and I even scoped Josie Maran’s website for products recently after hearing you talk so much about her.

So…how do I contribute? I share. That’s an awfully simplistic answer, but it covers so much. I read a lot, and when I read something I think will be valuable to others, I share it. Whether it’s tips on eating better, the latest news story, my love for a new artist I’ve discovered, or just a subject someone I know someone is interested in, I always try to pass it along. My favorite contribution of late: a few weeks ago you retweeted someone’s request for autism resources. As soon as I saw it I sent her the name of a friend who I knew could help her out. It only took me 30 seconds, but I felt like I had made a difference.

I am a makeup enthusiast and the more I learn about available products the more I realize we have a choice in purchasing products that not only aid our physical beauty, but also the beauty and preservation of our earth. I contribute with the world through radiating love into the world. I contribute by making sure people are listened to and acknowledged. I lend a helping hand to those who have no voice or too little of a voice, namely the elderly and children as well as animals. I cut up the 6-pack plastic holders that cokes come in so that no animal can get it’s head stuck through them. I pick up trash off the ground when I see it. I recycle and dispose of toxic chemicals safely. I, most of all, try to do everything I can to make a difference because it really does make a difference – even if it’s just one person at a time. <3

I contribute because I am an educator. Every semester, I teach at minimum 350 college students (usually freshmen and sophomores, but I do have a senior level class this fall) at a state university about criminology and criminal justice. I spend my time teaching them how to critically and analytically read, write, and think. I make my best effort to contribute to their critical and analytical abilities in order to assist their future careers. It allows me the opportunity to open students minds to the possibilities involved in learning, and I am able to dismiss some of their biases toward certain groups, individuals, and crimes. Even though I am overworked and underpaid, I am honestly lucky to have the opportunity to educate others. It is my passion.

Secondly, two days ago I was contacted by a publishing company. They offered me the opportunity to write a textbook on criminology. This means, I will be able to contribute to education inside and outside of my own classroom. I can educate my students through my lectures and educate other interested minds though my research and written word.

I LOVE JMC! I have used BE only for 11yrs or so, never even looked at anything else! I’ve recently switched completely from BE/RM to JMC everything! Love the Cleansing oil, argan oil, (use as my only moisturizer as well). The Tinted Moisturizer, and have a few palettes so far! I have well over 300+ BE e/s and am selling it all!!

How do I contribute? Well for one, I turn everybody I can onto Josie’s line:) I also volunteer at my daughters school. I rescue animals every chance I get (seriously, we’ve lived in about 6different places since we had our fire and everywhere, the animals seem to find me!).
Since having our house fire and knowing what I went through (alone) I offer myself to anybody going through it that may need help dealing with everything.

I help people in general everywhere I am, if I see someone needing help or looking like they need help.

I’m sure theres many more things but it’s hard to think about what all you do when it’s something you just do, you know??

I love Argan Oil. At first I thought that it would be too oily for me, but it is great everywhere. I put it on my hair and it is shiny without being greasy. I can put it on my hands, cuticles and elbows, just anywhere that needs moisture.

First entry: I try to contribute by converting all my friends to using natural, organic cosmetics, skincare, cleansers, etc in place of all the products that contain potentially harmful/unecessary/aging ingredients. Some people look at me like I’m nuts but when I manage to get someone to take me seriously and then get a message from them that they tried a certain product I raved about (lately Josie’s line- the oil (of course!), eyeshadows, color sticks, lipgloss, primer mist, concealer, cleansing oil, mascara and tinted moisturizer) it gives me the warm fuzzies 🙂 I also love the BOGO mascara- not only that it is the easiest to use that I’ve found but the fact that for everyone bought, one is given to a cancer patient/survivor really touches me as I just lost my mother to cancer last year 🙁
